Real time too quick for you? Buckle up…

Our guest post, just published on Wired UK argues that Real Time has been superceded by Next Time – the ability to filter vast amounts of Real Time data to predict the future.

 
Depending on where you stand, that’s either very frightening, or very exciting.
 
To the frightening side, add the ability of credit card companies to predict our personal circumstance and the ability for security services to predict the stability of nations and regions.
 
On the exciting side, add our ability to predict flu epidemics faster than ever before, or get help to disaster victims quicker.
 
Either way, we live in very interesting times, because we’ve reached the point where we not only have the ability to predict the future, but we can also nudge people into acting in a way which helps us mediate that future.
 
We look forward to seeing what comes next…
